Doesn't make me feel all that much better about getting on the British
Airways plane for my holiday this year. I hate flying.

There's really no need to be afraid of flying, you know.

It's plummeting to earth that you should be worried about.

That's exactly it - flying doesn't actually bother me, but I do have a
fear of falling. I thought I had cured it by going Bungee Jumping, but
no luck. I really don't mind the bit in the air, but taking off and
landing, and any banking makes me grab a hold of the armrests.

I also have an overactive imagination, and spend a great deal of time
before flights imagining what will happen when (not if) terrorists take
over the plane. Which is odd, because I have been more than happy to use
the Underground on the semi-regular basis ever since July 7.

The falling thing probably dates back to when I fell off a P.E.
apparatus as a nipper and fractured my skull. That wasn't funny*.

I'm beginning to think I might be a fruitcake. Flibble.

down - the stupid twunt thought they were "dangerous".

Flying doesn't bother me but the Aircrash Investigation type programmes
give me the shivers . However many years ago when I was training in the
Army I was with a lad who witnessed the crash of BEA Flight 548 in 1972
nr Staines . He was out with his older brother and regularly saw planes
just after take off from heathrow - this one however appeared to stop
in mid air and just fell out of the sky. It didn't burn straight away
and there were bodies and suitcases etc lying about - his brother was
mentioned in an inquiry when he ran to get to a phone.

Horrific and chilling when he talked of it. Haunted me for ages!.
