If I had my way, 5 TV licence dodgers, refuseniks, call then what
you will, would be executed live on Prime Time TV every Saturday
night. They should round up all that week's convicted dodgers in
a compound round the back of the TV Centre, put their names in a
drum, and draw out the first six, National Lottery Style. Showing
all their faces as they watch the draw live on a big screen. Then the
punters at home could phone in at £1 a minute, to vote which one of
them should get a reprieve. They could vary the execution method each
week so as to keep up the interest, hanging one week, the electric
chair the next, gas chamber, firing squad etc. They could probably
run a "golden shot" type programme on the firing squad Saturdays.
They could also introduce a surprise element whereby a well known
personality such as Dec from Ant and Dec, or Dec from Ant and Dec,
or Dec from Ant and Dec, might get executed by mistake as well.
This would not only do wonders for the viewing figures, but would
probably encourage more people to buy a licence.
