The real problem I have with the BBC using Realplayer is that it requires
downloading rather than using a player that is already installed with
Windows. Not a problem for a home user, but for a work user it makes the BBC
streaming sites unusable. We have an IT policy at work, and I'm sure others
do too, that restricts us from downloading and installing any software,
other than what is provided on our desktops by the IT dept. We don't however
have any restricitons on what we watch or what pages we view and are allowed
to watch streaming stuff in our breaks, but as we are not allowed Realplayer
the BBC streaming is therefore out of bounds for us. I'm sure this is the
same for a lot of other users.
