Without wishing to diminish the significance of this news, or to appear
crass, I'm a tad (but only a tad) miffed that the extension of The World At
My Feet means that Counterpoint isn't on.
The event has happened, there isn't a developing news situation, there's
only so much comment that can be made, and on a Bank Holiday in particular
it's not exactly a heavy news day. I wonder why this sort of thing is
deemed necessary?
I fear that the next big royal event will feature the implementation of the
special instructions I found when last in the BBC studio in Barrow - in the
event of the demise of one of the Big Four - Liz, Phil, Chuck and Will - all
scheduled broadcasting to be suspended, so no escape. It's not clear if
places of public entertainment will be closed down. Note that Phil the
Greek will be 90 next month.
