On this bit of the Continong they take your drinks order before you've had time
to read the menu, and quite a lot of people drink tea or tisane with their meal.
But I don't remember ever seeing anybody drink coffee before the dessert course,
as they do throughout the meal in the US.

Americans also drink milk with their dinner, which I find very strange indeed. But then I dislike milk on its own anyway.

I used to drink milk with meals as a child, because I disliked tea, which was what we were supposed to drink. The habit was encouraged by the provision of free school milk, which we even had in the 6th form, when we used it the coffee we made for ourselves.

Just now and then I get a craving for a glass of cold milk with my lunch, but only every few months or so.

It appears that I now have strong bones with little risk of osteoporosis, so perhaps all that milk in my youth did me some good.
