The local shops / market stalls near me might, sometimes, be cheaper than
the supermarkets, but their produce is almost invariably in poor
condition. If you don't get to choose your own, they're not above giving
their less favoured customers some real mouldy old rubbish.
I don't always shed a tear for the small trader put out of business by a
supermarket.

We have stopped using the local vegy shop as the quality was declining
rapidly. Hubby now works near the local market and pops in most days
to bring home fruit and veg. A couple of good ideas the market vegy
stall has is to sell half cabbages and bags of cauli florets. Makes
much more sense.
