<Linda Smith>And all I ever get is the RSPB newsletter

All I got (in the post) this morning was 2 "Christmas cards." One was
from the Dogs' Trust asking for a donation and the other was a bilingual
offering from Royal Mail/Post Brenhinol telling me about the "extra
services" they are offering this Christmas and what the last posting
dates are. I notice from the back of this card that "Royal Mail, the
Cruciform and the colour red are registered trade marks of Royal Mail
Group Ltd."

What?! We can trademark a *colour*? I think I'll register Grey then -
I love grey.

i suspect it is *they* who can trademark a colour. you go out and
try, they'll find some stupid reason why it's not allowed.

i _have_ noticed that red cars are rather uncommon nowadays (they used
to be quite the thing, iirc, for a certain class of people). perhaps
the car manufacturers have been frightened off by the massive legal
muscle of the post office.
