It's not really a question of coping in the literal sense, as a
provider simply offers you a connection and it's up to you to find
a device that can use it. Whether the device is an Internet radio
or a Cray supercomputer doesn't matter as long as it can transmit
the right data. But of course most providers will try to support
their helpless users with advice and possible soft- and hardware,
and that's probably where many of them will be saying these days
that they don't want to deal with very old systems such as Windows
98. For example - another important remark - if you go and get that
USB stick for WiFi access I would in no way be certain these days that
it would easily work in Windows 98. It is very likely that specific
drivers will be needed, so ask about that. Windows 98 was the first
version with USB support, and that didn't always go smoothly. See

As to the USB ports being an early type because they're associated with W98, the hard drive that used to be in the computer probably ran XP as the original owners certainly had an internet modem or router running off the USB ports so I don't think we have to worry about that aspect of things. ... email jane at cloth and clay dot co dot uk ...
