Is it really likely that the police would have allowed Matt to keep his passport while he was on bail? I thought there was a reference to them having given it back but that seems even less likely. I can only imagine that they would only do this if they were very confident that they would pick him up at the airport, if he was silly enough to try to do a runner. It sounds as if he's just added another year or three to his time in clink.

All great truths begin as blasphemies. (George Bernard Shaw)
And what's happened to his reduced financial circumstances? He must have a fairly large sum hidden away if he plans to escape to Costa Rica. Or perhaps he's finally become completely unhinged.

Didn't he mention 250K hidden in an off-shore account? I think our Lil will do the decent thing and come back.

I can't imagine she'll go at all (OP). She knows how much she needs to have her family to fall back on, and they also need her support right now (unreliable though it is). I think she will refuse to go, in the hope that this will make him change his mind or at least persuade him to come back soon and face the consequences.

As they have return tickets, I think she will go, in the hope of persuading him to come back. If he won't, she'll return on her own and whinge for 10 years.

Did you hear continuity (was it yesterday or earlier?) opining that she would probably just spend all the money on gin, or something?
