Beebotron. How do you do the "Switch it to mp3" part?
I don't need to convert it to wav, but can convert the ram directly to mp3 (or many other things including wav) by using the free Switch prog, which I saw on Umra first :-)

I'm missing something here - the links on the iplayer site give you the rstp: links, but not access to the ram file itself. How do you download the ram file to your PC before you convert it with Switch?

I have NetXfer which works OK, but I wondered if you use something else.

I've just cancelled my first reply because I'd read your post as meaning you were trying to download from the BBC iplayer site, so I redirected you to the iplayer converter site. Now, I'm not sure what you meant.. So, no, you can't convert easily from the BBC iplayer site, AFAICT, but if you use the iplayer converter mentioned above, all you need to do is right click on the link you want and save it in ram. Well, it works for me :-)

I suspect you're getting a .ram file containing a link, rather than audio. If you "open" that file, it actually connects to the BBC and streams the audio to you in real time.

So, my follow-up question is - what do you open that .ram file with, to get an mp3 as output? Does Switch read that file and do the whole job?

I open Switch, find the .ram file (I'm sure you're right it's a link, but since I've got my internet radios, I normally use On Demand if I've missed a something and I only download progs I want to convert to mp3) and Switch converts it for me. IYSWIM.
