I am not really a bearded weirdie at all, but a Purple Potter without
a computer posting through Google Groups.

Laptop has now died completely, so I'm afraid all activity on umra and
in stored posts for Bad Taste which happened after the last back-up on
28th May are now permanently lost. I'm aware a BTN was accepted, but
would need somerat to forward me whichever post shows the BT itself
and the nomination so I can re-save from email. Also, for the time
being, if anyone has any Bad Taste which needs reporting it will need
to be forwarded to me by email as I shan't be even reading umra for
the forseable future.  Emails, of course, can always wait on the
server even if I do not download them.

Having handed over loads more dosh, I now have an upgraded warranty on
the laptop which means that it will be collected and returned here in
France.  It's thought at least a new hard drive and possiblyl new
motherboard and palmrest (again) will be required.

When I eventually get it back, I shall be pursuing Dell for a
replacement or refund as the laptop has most definitely been of
unsatisfactory quality under the appropriate Act.  If they go for
refund rather than replacement, I may be considering buying some other
make of laptop in the future.  If anyrat has any overwhelming 100%
positive recommendation for any make of laptop, both for reliability
and quality of technical support, I'd be interested to hear.  The
silly thing is that I would normally recommend Dell laptops.  Just not
my current one.

Anyway, as I say, I won't be reading umra for the time being but am
still very much reachable via

jane at cloth and clay dot co dot uk

as usual.

This has been a Public Announcement, though it isn't very Serviceable.

Except it doesn't include the BTN after May 28th Jane was talking about,
which is here:

Gosh. You're right. I wonder if we have to set some "do not filter"
flag somewhere in google to allow this extreme bad taste to be listed.
Or just wait until google update some index or other.
