I liked the story about one of the guards getting the captive something to read - and, not speaking English, not realising that he'd got him "Great Escapes". I'd heard it before somewhere, though, which sadly made me wonder if it was true ... I hope so though.
They've all given a number of interviews, as well as writing books about it, so it wouldn't be surprising if you'd heard some of the better anecdotes before. It seems quite possible though that some stories may have improved over the years though.
That said, I'm re-listening[1] to Terry Waite's book "Taken on Trust" and, assuming I didn't doze off at the crucial moment and miss a bit, I don't think he mentions either "Great Escapes" or the breast feeding manual. He does describe drawing a penguin logo to help the guard find him suitable books though.
[1] I'm close to the end of it now so I think that, if it was going to be mentioned, it would have happened before now.
