Nothing wrong with all tlhe mail recipients I've tried, as far as I can see.
You are trying to use an SMTP server which is not owned by the ISP you're currently connected to - this has been blocked for decades to stop spammers sending mail via other companies' mail servers. At a rough guess, your mail client is still configured to the SMTP server of your UK ISP - you need to change it for the one provided by your French ISP.
Well, I did think of that. However, that is not what I did last year and not what Mike has done on his laptop also Vista/Thunderbird and he has successfully sent email yesterday without changing any settings on his laptop. Also, why would I still be able to send posts to umra using my UK SMTP?
AFAIK our French ISP has never given us an SMTP address, though I suppose we could ask for one after the (French) bank holiday if nothing else can be made to work.
