It seems such a pity that such a brilliant idea is not now generally
available :(
I thought I'd really miss it, since I used it constantly. I don't. One
adjusts. :o)
I didn't/don't use it so just idle curiosity - has it upped and beggared
off or something or has Kimbo converted to OO as well?
No, it upped and beggared off in 2002 :) I am happily using
OfficeXP2002 at the moment but sadly find that because my discs are all
upgrade discs, I can't run Office on my new Vista laptop. I did a bit
of looking beforehand and found that 2002 was compatible but didn't find
the bit that said that excluded upgrades. I've always detested Works.
So now am faced with the possibility of several hundred pounds of
unexpected expense for new version of Office or OO :(
At least one of your disks (the earliest one) should be full version.
To install Office on Vista, start with the most recent version, then
when prompted for your "upgrade eligible version", temporarily insert
the full version disk. The install process will check that disk, and
then proceed.
Apparently my 97 version was itself an upgrade from Works and the Works
supplied on my new laptop isn't recognised :(

I think you would need the original Works disk - later versions
weren't eligible for the upgrade. Failing that, it might be worth
trying one of the intermediate upgrades as an "eligibility token".

Some success! I tried starting with the XP disc and putting the 97 disc in when it wanted qualifying products. All installed.

However, you win some, you lose some;) I still can't have the shortcut bar! I had written myself some notes on how to get it, which were that after the installation you start set-up again, choose custom, find the shortcut bar and select it to be installed. Vista (I think) tells me I've already installed and won't allow the disc to run. I tried uninstalling so that I could try a custom install first go and apparently the system adminstrator hasn't given me permission to uninstall :( If I'm not the system adminstrator, I've no idea who is!
