Bras can get hideously twisted through the rest of the wash, and (I've
heard) the wires can get out and impale themselves in the holes in the
drum, leading to expensive repairs. Dangerous things, bras.

I've never really understood the attraction of wired ones anyway: surely any slight change in shape of the bust (compared to something with good support of other type; I'm not advocating no bra) isn't worth what I've always imagined must be quite uncomfortable after a short time.
