It looks as if I'm going to be EasyJetting over to England for a funeral
next week. ....

.... Anyhow,
all I want to do is turn up at the station and buy a return ticket. Is
that possible, or should I jump through hoops first?

I use <www.nationalrail.co.uk> No hoops asfar as I can see.

No, that is quite possible. The only catch is you don't really know which
company is extorting your fare from you. Expect a return ticket from
Gatwick to Wimbledon to be within a hair's breadth of your return airfare.

The only trick to watch out for is NOT getting a ticket on the Gatwick
Express, which is more expensive than other trains. But as it goes
direct to Victoria only, it's unlikely to feature in your plans.
You're more likely to go to Clapham Junction and change.

Single fair Gatwick to Wimbledon is 9.10 as far as I can see.

I understand very little of what's being discussed
but for some reason it's fascinating.
