I think I might. I think I might believe that a person was mortified
at being further accused of something they were sure they hadn't done
and desperately wanted to reach the person who was being so crazy in
saying such condemning things.
After being warned not to by the police, possibly a judge and certainly his own legal team, on pain of being imprisoned?
And even if you wanted to meet up, wouldn't you first try to contact them by phone or letter, or suggest a meeting with someone else present, to reassure them that your intentions were good? Wouldn't lurking around their back garden and pouncing when their partner went out be likely to make things worse?
Admittedly, Kathy would not have responded to any such communication, but he never tried to contact her, did he?
