the trouble is, this sort of lunacy is the stock in trade of so many
people -- notably tabloid journos, so that it gets lots of coverage.
And I assume you include The Register in that category, considering
the ridiculousness of the headline.
It's ironic.
The dripping sarcasm in the text is a clue. If you've read El Reg for a
while I think it's hard to see it any other way.
However, if I read it in most British print media I'd probably assume they
meant it.
