Unfortunately, they don't allow fish pun threads on Freecycle.

What a load of codswallop! I have one here at my plaice.
Yes, I have a PAT box, but I can't use it in anger as it's a non-legit
machine as far as testing is concerned, a pre-production unit, a unit
on which I wrote some software a few years ago.

The other drawback is that this stuff has to be calibrated at 12 month
intervals - you can't use it if it aint calibrated.
Cost of calibration is enough to make it not worth ones while unless
you're gonna do lots & lots.

It's not calibrated at all. The German language top cover is a bit of
a giveaway as well.
But it did find one possibly dangerous table lamp (floating metalwork)
and two high resistance IEC mains leads.

As an elfen safe tee bod, may I stick my whore in here? I am no longer
certified to do the portable appliance testing as we have moved on a
generation and now use the Robin electronic (and more accurate but less
destructive) tester which I have not been on the C&G course and exam to
use. I used to use the Clare tester; this measures several factors
including earth resistance, high voltage breakdown of insulation (flash
test) and double insulated circuit parameters. There are several scales
for earth resistance and several voltages for flash tests. Most
equipment that I used to check was tested on a three yearly basis,
except items prone to abuse as they were moved around frequently (OHP's
etc.); I negotiated with our H&S people as to what should fall into
which category and at my recommendation, OHP's were checked annually.

The testers themselves actually have to be calibrated and tested
periodically also. The old Clare that I still have in my office is due
for a further test but I am not using it these days so someone else may
have to arrange that. The cost of the PAT equipment is thousands each by
the way!
