Attacks on homeless people have been going on for as long as there
have been homeless people. The recent attack to which you referred was
newsworthy only because the lady involved was not actually homeless,
however the attacker almost certainly believed she was.

I am not saying this in any way excuses the attacker's behaviour.
However, those of a certain political pursuasion - and I suspect you
might be amongst them turnitup - have been willing to turn a blind eye
to the routine abuse of the homeless, probably in the hope that this
will discourage others from adopting such a lifestyle. The inevitable
consequence of this is that occasionally the wrong people will be
attacked.

It was always so, only now we have the 24hr news reporting to bring it
to our attention.
