Thanks for all suggestions. I am now looking at Zen. They seem to have
two deals for the same price - Zen Home 250 and Zen 8000 Lite. Why
would I choose one over the other?
The 250 is a very slow option, for broadband, at only 256kb upload and
download. However, given that you can download as much as you want to.
The 8000 will give you up to 8Mb download---thi will depend on other
factors such as your exchange, the distance to your exchange, etc., but
it'll be faster than the 250. The downside is that you are limited to
2GB download per month.
Gosh, 2GB is only about 4 1/4hrs internet radio according the BT's
bandwidth calculator (see link up or down there). Wouldn't do for me.
What sort of radio does the BT calculator think is out there? I am on
Zen 8000 Lite and I listen to a great deal of internet radio (if you
include Listen Again) I have twice received alerts that I had hit 50%
of my monthly limit, but in both cases I had been downloading a large
amount of other stuff (mostly music). I don't think that Radio 4
bandwidth is anything close to what the calculator claims.

Into my heart an air that kills From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills, What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content, I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went And cannot come again.
