Does any Umrat use this company for supply of Gas and/or Electricity?

At first sight it looks as though they would be quite a bit cheaper for
me (about £20 saving on last quarterly bill) and they seem to have good
ethical credentials too. However, never having heard of them before I
am slightly hesitant about plunging in.

IANAEBICoUser but as far as I know they are not a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Northern Rock so they will probably still be in business under their own name at
the end of next week. And unlike some telephone companies who had their own
network and then went bust leaving their customers with nothing to talk through,
electricity will still keep coming through the national grid, whoever sends you
the bills. As usual, the devil is in the detail aka the small print and if the
terms and conditions of the small print suit you, I would have thought that you
would be alright.

Unlike some small print I read this week <swerve> while looking into broadband
suppliers. At the moment I have nothing to connect up to broadband anyway
(notwithstanding Niles' and Nick's comments in umra to me last May) but think
I'm going to have to start using software that will talk to banks if I'm going
to avoid in the future some of the problems I had with my bankers while I was in
South America this year.

So this advert for mobile broadband from "3" looked really attractive: 2Mb/s
download speed, 3Gb allowance per month and only a footling little 10p per Mb
for any downloading beyond that and all for fifteen quid a month. Hang on a mo'
- how big is a Gig? So the price if you download 1Gig would be fifteen quid;
2Gig, fifteen quid; 3Gig fifteen quid; 4Gig, one hundred and seventeen pounds
and forty pence?

So... just out of interest, broadbandistas, if you know what you use, would you
mind telling me how much capacity you get through in a month to give me some
idea what I should be looking for?

Thanks,

Nick O
