Hm, what's the message you get when you try to logon, still about not
being allowed to logon locally?
Or could it be that have always logged in automatically to an account
that has a password, i.e. the password was stored beside the "log in
automatically" setting and you have forgotten it now? And the
Administrator has a password too but likewise you forgot about that? I
know you said earlier there was no password, but could that have been wrong?
In that case you might be in need of another very helpful bootable
rescue CD, and this one is only 3 MB in size. It's the "Offline NT
Password & Registry Editor", "http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/".
Sorry to throw another tool at you so soon, but I don't regret "forcing"
Knoppix on you - it made it easy for you to try and dismiss this first
strategy, and you wrote yourself how you can also use it as a fallback
for copying your data. (I'm impressed that someone really did volunteer
to make that CD and send it to you!) Now it seems that something else
must be tried, and like I said, this one only applies if you think a
password reset might help you. Or a reset of the account features such
as "disabled", "password never expires" etc. - the latter would not be
appropriate here but in that same list there seems to be a setting
called "password not required" so maybe that's the problem?
It's a bit unintuitive to navigate that site. Scroll the lower frame to
the very bottom, click on "instructions and image to download", scroll
down to "Download", download the CD image and burn to CD *as an image*,
boot from that CD, scroll back up in that lower frame and follow the
instructions.
Sebastian
