I have been away for a week (see, if you are really
interested, another post) and on my return find that there are over
700 umra posts to deal with. I note that several folk have posted in
response to my query about another ISP and I would like to thank all
of them for the interest (mind you, I haven't read any of them yet, so
i may be in for a shock).

Thansk particularly to Nick Odell who sent me a Tesco CD-ROM
so that I can try out their service. I will attempt to install their
stuff later on this weekend so that I can give Don'twanna the elbow. I
expect to see you all again soon, unless something goes wrong.

Weird word of the week: pyriform pearshaped)

I have now installed one of the ISPs I have been pointed to
(Waitrose, initially, but Tescp is held in reserve) There are a couple
of questions.
1 The little icon which appears in the tray bottom right (I
am using XP) which shows a couple of linked screens flashing as the
modem operates, is missing. I like to be able to click on thsi to
bring up a little panel showing the movement of bytes in and out. How
do I get it back?

2 I will be using a new name and I would like to take at
least some elementary steps to foil the harvesting operations of
spammers. What do I do? I know several folk have ingenious messages
which indicate to a moderate intelligence that something should be
removed from the name as displayed in the header (?) but how exactly
do I set up this device?
