Anyrat using Agent (or FreeAgent - can't remember if I paid for it or
not) tell me how to Mark Conversation Read ( not in umra of course,
Right click on the thread in the list of threads pane and select "mark
read".
Or highlight the collapsed thread and type <x>
If you want to ignore the thread completely type <i> while on any message
in the thread and you will be automagically taken to the next unread.
or Unread) or Watch or Ignore Thread. Luckily there's a thread just
below about Israeli dot.com millionaires or something that I can
practice on, but has anyrat any other ideas as to what I'm doing wrong
(as obviously Kim & Penny's advice was diamond...)
Damsel in Distress detected.
Fire up Free Agent. Splash screen says "Free Agent". Could be a clue to
version.
Select umra. Download last 50 messages.
Click on thread at random. Press "X". Instantly, nothing happens. Look for
mark read icon. Not there. Can't find option to customise icon bar. Right
click on thread. Select "Mark Read". Thread changes from red to black.
(Suspect "mark read" could be misnamed.)
Right click on second random thread. Press "R". Thread changes from red to
black.
Select another random thread. Press "I". Thread changes from red to black
and displays ignore icon (red circle with slash through it).
Select yet another random thread. Click on ignore icon. Thread changes
from red to black and displays ignore icon.
Once more, select random thread. Right click and select "ignore thread".
Thread changes from red to black and displays ignore icon.
Repeat tests twice more, selecting threads and then "Message" from menu bar
and then either "mark read" or "ignore thread". results are as expected.
Highlight all messages and delete.
Purge subscribed groups.
Check version in case of interest: 1.21/32.
Shut down Free Agent.
Swap to Agent.
Repeat tests.
Results as for Free Agent except:
Pressing "X" will toggle between read and unread.
Mark read icon (pencil writing on paper) on icon bar marks thread read.
Reinstate marked threads.
Check version in case of interest: a1.8/32.548.
Supplementary note: Ignored threads will probably be deleted when you do a
purge (most likely next time you retrieve headers) and lose the ignore
status. Retrieving a single body in the thread and retaining marked bodies
for some period longer then most threads last for (30 days?) should get rid
of the thread permanently.
Oh sorry. The question was, "Do I know what you are doing wrong?" I haven't
got a clue, but probably deviating from the above, or using some other,
differently enabled, version of Agent.
