Ask UMRA - banner blockers!

I'm finding it ever more difficult to negotiate the Internet as my aged
computer can't cope with the incresing level of banner advertising. I know
you can download software to stop this but I'm worried that it may also be
spyware! Has anyone tried these programmes or can they recommend
something - I'm getting very frustrated!
