OT - Metrication

Rant mode on:

Some Indian business man has broken the hot air balloon height limit.

BBC World Service gives the height in metres and goes onto give the
previous record in metres for the swedish bloke.

But why oh why oh why

does the BBC R4 give it in feet?

We've been metric for 35 years. A good proportion of the population
have been using metres all their lives.

They don't give prices out in shillings so why not use metric
measurements ?

Don't get me started on temperatures.

"It's 64 degrees. That's twice as hot as freezing."

Aaaaaaaaaargh - that's so absolutely Kelvin

Rant mode off - huddles in corner and counts the six toes on each foot
- ahh!
