Part of the answer to one question was the group The Byrds. UC spelt it Birds. There wasn't another group called that but with feathered spelling surely?
The US band (8 miles high, Hey Mr Tambourine Man, etc.) were called The Byrds. The UK band were called The Birds, and once sued The Byrds for using their name; which brought them rather more fame than their single "Leaving Here" (1) (Decca F12140) which got to no. 45 in the charts, for one week on May 27th 1965. As observed upthread, Woody played with the Birds (2), but not the Byrds.
(1) Wonder if it's the same "Leaving Here" as was done by Motorhead on their first album?
(2) Yes, probably in more senses than one (3)
(3) Though not quite as many senses as Bill Wyman.
