I had not realised that badgers were so fond of carrots until recently. A
neighbour fairly new to the area has taken on an allotment partly because
she thought it would be something nice to do with the small children (one 4
yr old and one 18 months old) on the way to or from nursery/school.
Unfortunately, the owner of the allotment next to hers has decided that an
electric fence is the only way to protect his carrots against the badgers so
it is no longer a safe place for the children to play. I can understand
that his carrots are important to him, but this just seems to be against the
spirit of allotments :(
