What's the difference between a crosspost and a follow-up?
A crosspost is any one posting made to multiple newsgroups.
A follow-up is a response to a previous posting.
The two are not mutually exclusive.
Are your messages visible on a follow-up.
Why should they not be? By default, a follow-up will go to all of the
groups to which the original posting was made, and would therefore be
crossposted if the original was. However, your newsreader might allow
you to alter this behaviour, so that your follow up goes to only some
of the original groups (assuming that the original was cross-posted)
or to a different group or groups. In this case, follow-ups to your
posting will, by default, go to the groups which you selected... but
the respondent can also alter this behaviour.
Peter.
Of course, Peter has got this totally wrong. A Crosspost is when you post
something in a fit of extreme anger, and a Follow-up is a reply you finally
get around to posting tomorrow because you just couldn't be arsed to do it
today. See, you should have just asked me Brian, I know about these things
:o)
