EXACTLY! Who bought the ice cream? It wasn't locals
was it?

I bought some
It was "outsiders"! Don't mind taking their money
do these poxxy locals?!

There is an interesting item which I'm too lazy to link
concerning the Playhouse. At first sight it looks very
much like an olden day theatre but it was actually totally
rebuilt in 1969 following a massive fire.

The decline was not just drugs.

I've seen decline in the place since the 60's. Like the article said,
cheap package tours.

Weston is different now but I don't see the difference as a big decline.
A lot of hotels this week are fully booked, the beach was well packed on
the day I passed through, the cafes doing a good trade and the donkeys
still running up and down.
so it must have something, unlike Morecambe where it really has visably
declined or Rhyl, two places I passed through recently and could only
look in horror that these were once very popular seaside resorts and
were now almost derelict in places.

Local people (in general) do not visit their own locale. They are happy
spending their money on what they want, but not (in general) support
their local businesses.
