If your laptop has wireless connectivity use could use one of the many
(legal) wireless "hotspots" around the UK.
You can pick up mail and use the web without a care in the world!

Google this for locations.

If you haven't got wireless - sell your old laptop and get one that
does! -or more sensibly get a PCMCIA card like
http://www.businessshop.bt.com/invt/bbw105

which will sort you out.
