Oh, I see! This hadn't occurred to me. Basically, hunts are no longer
allowed to chase and kill anything except a rabbit or a rat. These are

I did wonder why you hate the hunt even now it's not allowed to kill
anything. I had intended to ask you what you thought they should be
wearing now for their meets, because, much as you dislike scarlet, it's
harder for them to break the law if they are wearing something so
conspicuous.

However, they can still meet and go to watch hound exercise, and if
that is really all they do, I personally don't see any harm in it. As I
said, I think if we complain about them even when they are killing
nothing, we are giving them ammunition for their protests against us.

Well, if you were a hunter you would think so! Actually it doesn't make
much sense from either point of view. For example, they are allowed to
use just two hounds to flush a fox to waiting guns, but a full pack of
hounds to flush a fox to be killed by a bird of prey. I mean, what is
the sense of that?

But the hounds must not chase the fox and I don't think all the hunts
have been able to buy birds of prey.


I thought you said up there they can't kill foxes anymore?

And it's very silly, making the rules that complicated means they are more likely to be bent/broken/ignored/gotten away with.

I just know what's right.
