Hi

does somebody actually know how they work. where get the cab drivers
their customers from, as they are not supposed to pick them up?

Booking; either by telephone or in person at a 'Mini-cab office', usually,
or by some form of contract.

how do they charge for the service as there is no meter installed in
the car?

Negotiate, or ask to see the scale of charges. Each firm (or independent
driver) can charge what they like.

who is checking their licence? that the car is safe etc...

See <http://www.ukstudentlife.com/Travel/Transport/Taxi.htm> for good
advice.

has someone info about how this whole unorganized business works or
does know a cab driver or company who would like to give some info.

thanks.
