As others have said, it comes to the main station concourse, which is
very large and half-separated in two parts. If I remember correctly, and
if it hasn't changed, the Gatwick trains come in on the left side of the
station (looking out) and a little further back than the other trains.
This makes the walk to the tube a little further, but not far, thirty
yards to the stairs perhaps, but is also nearer the bus station as there
is a side exit from the station there and the bus station is just up the
road from where it comes out.

As the others mention, you've got stairs to deal with at the entry to
the
underground station and various bits of the walk to the actual train
that are a nuisance with big bags. The tube is often crowded too on that
section (and I mean crowded) so it can be a hassle getting in with your
bags.
Depending on where you are going it might be better to take a bus or a
cab. There is a bus terminus just outside the station on the same level
with London buses going all over the place from there, and yet more bus
lines passing through the adjoining streets. A resting bus driver or
inspector in the vicinity will help you find the right one. If it isn't
too far take a cab. If it is further afield (like Glasgow even) then you
go to the National Coach bus station that I mentioned earlier.
Have a good time.
