Re: Q: ntlworld uploading files

Thanks for all the help. The first reply got it working. I am always running
slightly out of my depth on PCs so thanks again. At least the
uk.local.lincolnshire does still have some use!

I'm not going to pay £1 a minute for a tech help phone number, that
starts off with a long recorded advertisement!!!
I'm 99% sure that Virgin dropped the unpopular £1 a minute tech support
charge and it's now free you can also post support request FOC to
viginmedia.support.tv or .usenet or .broadband.cable they are an excellent
resource and covered by both virgin media support staff and other virgin
users

However, ever since Virgin took over, my upload space has stopped
working - even when I manually open as View as FTP site in Internet
ExplorerHowever, ever since Virgin took over, my upload space has stopped

I'll be honest i'm not a virgin fan - i had much better service as ntl and
even better under diamond cable - this fault however is unlikly to be
theirs. IE has always had some difficulties using explorer for ftp
especially on sites that don't accept anonymous access. They did fix it
for a while but it 'broke' again on one of the security 'fixes'

You can upload via the ftp command Start run command type ftp and then
open ftp.ntlworld.com it will then ask for a username and pssword and you
can use the put or fetch command to upload and download though to be
honest it would be simpler and more effective to use the mozilla filezilla
app this is free and works well on the ntl/vigin webspace.

hope this helps
