Nice one I park at B & Q all the time as I go to uni and you've just proved
to me their new parking scheme is not fake. God knows where else im going
to park.

Just recieved a parking fine whilst shopping at B&Q (Lincoln).
According to their parking managers I was on site for for than two
hours and consequently owe £125. In fairness they have offered to
reduce the fine for prompt payment (to £75), but I can't help feeling
that this should only apply to people who leave site by foot (similar
to the scheme operated by Comet etc, just over the road).
I accept that the car park is littered with signs warning me of their
policy, but know from experiance that it's easy to lose track of time
and the longer we're in, the more we spend. With the kitchen being due
for replacement, we could easily spend a couple of hours looking at all
the options and accessories before melting my credit card at the
checkout. However, might just cross B&Q of the suppliers list as the
last thing I need is another parking fine.
Although B&Q will no doubt point out that parking management is handled
buy an independant company, it's their land and their customers who get
the fines, so it's B&Qs responsibility. Doesn't really help that their
parking contractors have starred on BBC Watchdog:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio/watchdog/reports/transport/transport_20060228.shtml
Although they have signed up to DTI code of conduct they didn't give me
a notice at the time of the offence or post photographs with the
request for money (breaches of code paras 3.2 & 3.5 respectively).
Apparently they have the photos on file so i've asked for a copy - just
to be sure. Particularly as on the day in question I was looking for
some particular bits and bobs, bouncing between DIY places and garden
centres, and quite possibly visited B&Q twice. Quite certain I wasn't
in there for three hours and positive that I didn't leave site by foot,
so will the car be in the same parking slot on both photos?? Can't
wait to find out.
Whinge off. Just watch the clock in B&Q and don't go twice in the same
day.
