My first brush with "spreading the wealth" occurred when I was in Ashford General for a couple of weeks at the age of 10. During a visit I received some sweets which were promptly confiscated and placed into the "spread the wealth" box for distribution to the entire ward.

I didn't like it then and I certainly don't like it now.

Lol, that sweet episode made quite an impression on you for I seem to remember reading that story before. There is a certain irony to it as "spreading the wealth" around is what paid for your stay in hospital.

At the age of around 7 or 8 I turned in an arithmetic test at Lydd primary. It was returned to me with the words "Rubbish" written in red pen by Mr. Fenner.

Both of those incidents scarred me for life. To this day - I hate redistribution of wealth (at least my wealth) and red pens.

I was scarred for life by Mr. Lunn smacking my legs for talking during Arithmetic and, later, Mrs. Norris ridiculing me in front of the whole class for failing to understand elementary Algebra. To this day I hate creepy old people wearing black gowns.....
