Several years ago. A neighbour within sight of where I live ( in a no interest no status and not worth mentioning part of town ) Put up a flagpole and flew the Union Jack or the Cross of St George ( cant remember now ) Someone complained and he had to take it down. I was totally disgusted, but apparently you have to have permission to fly a flag.
That's interesting - I'll have to mention that to the man who lives on the Lower Rainham Road who, for the past 28 years (since we moved here) has flown a Swiss flag in his back garden.
Perhaps there's some complicated set of regulations about flags - I know that in 2006 when the World Cup was on, every foreign car on the road seemed to be sporting at least one St. George's Cross flag, which I found very ironic.
