"Itchy" <spam@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote I've just seen John's
face on the telly saying he's been forced to resign because of comments
he's made on his blog saying there's a strong case for compulsory
sterilisation of mothers living on benefits who have had a second
child.
It's more the sort of thing you would expect from China or 1930s Germany
or one of those 12-year-old "Tory Boys" who briefly came into fashion
when Mrs Thatcher was Obergruppenfuehrer.
In all seriousness it doesn't make sense to me, does it you? We knew him
quite well on here and he never posted anything that was not middle of
the road and likely to upset anyone. Well anyone other than the Hatter
and TOTC. And that was only because he was so damn pompous and
patronising. It's so out of character. My guess is he has been set up. I
understand he's resigned from the council. It's sad for him, he sweated
blood to get there.
As for 1930s Germany, somebody made the point on the radio this morning
that if Hitler had introduced an embryo Bill on the lines of the one
being forced through Parliament by Brown there would have been outrage
all round. That's not to imply I'm against it mind you. Uneasy yes, but
pragmatically in favour.
If you look at the feature on him on Kent online you'll see that 77.7%
agree with him as opposed to 22.3%.
I agree with you, totally out of character however for our John.

In these days of usenet, blogs, only a politically correct hermit could get
elected.
It's up to the electorate to determine his fitness for office. Agree or
disagree, I believe he should have toughed it out and let the voters decide
at the next election.
