Who else out there has concerns about where this country is heading?
Politics are not my bag but i dont like where all the arrows seem to
be pointing. My opinion is that we are heading for bad times, i see
Totalitarism or a form of it, repression & lots of state interference.
The wife & I are in our early forties & our two kids are off our
hands, one in New Zealand & the other in Australia. If we sold the
house we could walk away with 80k. We talk about leaving Blighty
almost weekly & i would have gone this year i think but i got offered
a 3rd share in an established small building/re-furbishment company
with all the benefits + a share in the profits. I have graduated &
come off the tools. We buy rundown properties, re-furb them & either
rent them or re-sell. We also job around London M25 area & the
profits from this work pay for the housing projects. I am going to
give it 3 years to see if this new opportunity bears fruit, if it
does then i will alter my plans slightly which will mean commuting a
few days/weeks- on/off from somewhere in Europe, if not i will cash
in my chips & leave Blighty altogether. Where to go? A tough one. It
depends on how much cash i have. If i
still need to work to earn a living then it has to be Spain or
somewhere else with a half decent earning potential. The USA or
Canada is not for me, possibly Aus or NZ but i'm not sure. I am
looking also at some parts of Eastern Europe that have opened up,
Yugoslavia maybe. If i can live off my investments then living
anywhere is possible. I have considered the continent of Asia too.
Thailand is fun but a bit dodgy, one of my pals sold up & took 350k
out there. India i fancy too. One way or another i'm outta here, two in my
circle have
gone....Interesting times are ahead.
Any other readers have plans or thoughts?
Beefheart.

Your in your early forties and you've got rid of the kids !!
How did you manage that ? What is your secret ?
Please enlighten me.
And they are out of the country so they wont come back.
You have either been a crap parent or you have the luck of the Irish ))
