Of course ALPHA is not the only course, the church runs courses which
range from basics of faith, mini courses in fellowships and house
groups, right through to courses for those who want to seriously study
theological matters at degree level.

Many people go to ALPHA who are just like you and feel happy about
everything. They simply want to find out _IF_ they are missing
something, just to completely satisfy their minds. I know people who
have enjoyed the whole course (even more than one in some cases) and
kept in contact with people in the groups, but have never chosen to go
any more forward at that time because they feel as you do now. That's
the great thing about it, it's an exploration of ' yourself ', your
place, your life and if God and faith has got a part in it, it's not
about others, unless what you already have is worthy of sharing with
them. It's also funny and good fun too, and very few people come away
without having made some true friendships.

There are some who chose to go to challenge all they know too, and
that's OK. It's surprising to find out that what is on our minds are
often shared thoughts. As you are happy and content there may be
someone who would benefit from your state of mind and peace with
yourself. Love peace and contentment should be equally explored. After
all, we live in a volatile world which relies on the peace in other
people's souls. So our own personal happiness can be torn apart by the
wants, desires, needs and inner thoughts of others in an instant. Can
your state of mind now really reach into theirs to change yours?  Why
not go and find out what 'more' there really is.

Dear Carol

Thank you for this information and encouragement, it was very informative
indeed. So informative in fact that I've found out that I'm living almost
next door to one of your course leaders! Because of you I'm now sure I
will feel differently but right now not tomorrow, I can't wait for
tomorrow, my house is up for sale from this morning but I'll keep the
neighbours a secret if you don't mind. I don't want potential buyers to
have a god negotiating hand. Sorry that should have been "good negotiating
hand". Same difference I suppose.

What I don't understand is that if happy people go to your courses to find
out "if they are missing something" then they can't be truly happy can
they? I know what I'm missing in my life and I'm very pleased I am missing
it to thank you.

As for friends, I regret to say I have too many, the last thing I want is
to make anymore, friends are so tiresome wouldn't you agree? Always
getting in the way of  good time and telling you what you should be doing
when one's inclination is to do the opposite. Why do friends always want
to be your conscience? It's very inconvenient.

And as for reaching into others minds, no thank you. I like to lead a
balanced life, other people are so mixed up and drag you down don't you
find? I'll tell you what, I'll run a special course for you on how to
extricate yourself from hangers-on, it'll be very simple, I'll teach you
how to say "No thanks", it's amazing how many people find it difficult to
say No.

So I'll finish off with good luck and best wishes to you. As for me,
