On Thursday I heard several loud bangs, spaced out over an
hour or so. I wondered if some old wartime explosives had been dug up
and were being were 'disposed of' in situ.. Not quite 'thuddy' enough
to be really big old bombs, although a couple were definitely louder.

I will admit that the first one sounded more like a large
and possibly empty lorry going 'crump' against some solid object on
the nearby by-pass. But the lack of sirens or any other rescue sounds
following that or any subsequent bangs seemed to rule out that theory.

Does anyone know anything about these noises?
