What customers? If the beers were really popular, Gales wouldn't have
sold out.

I'm not saying that Gales beers are (were!) not among the best in the
country; HSB is my own favourite; it's just that a few old codgers
nattering at length over their halves doesn't pay the bills.

It's a pity, but there you are.
