Well Tyneside Cinema's stay was only ever temporary while they did up the place in Newcastle. It's not like they are demolishing the town hall, I expect it's super listed - or something. But it would be nice to have that building put to a good use.
The building is and will remain the home of the council arts team
and one or two other units. The hall which houses the cinema is
retaining its projection equipment and Tyneside Cinema will be
returning from time to time with shows once they are settled back
in Newcastle. The hall will also be used for other functions.
Tyneside Coffee Rooms are also returning to Newcastle, of course,
but the restaurant in the Town Hall will be continuing either as
a branch of the Tyneside Coffee Rooms or as a separate commercial
enterprise.
