Considering that local government is so fragmented these days would it not
be better just to go back to the pre-1970's county boundaries, regardless
of which authority controls them. So Newcastle is in Northumberland,
Gateshead is in County Durham etc, it would make things much neater!



The Post Office/Royal Mail doesn't use counties in the address any more so
you won't have any problems using traditional counties in the address as
long as you use the post code.
