At considerable discomfort to my few remaining braincells, I have been
listening to the arguments from boths sides regarding the industrial
action by the postal workers.

Is it my imagination or are the postmen and their union reps really to
most lazy, selfish and detatched from reality workers in the entire
country?

Is Crozier the most overpayed and poorest manager/moderniser in the
country?

The Post Office is a national service, if it continues as it is it
will soon be bankrupt and out of business.

Come on, you guys, get real.

Many years ago I used to work at the Ipswich Sorting Office at Christmas (
for about 7 years) to earn a bit of extra cash. I always maintained that had
some of the official postmen done less skiving, chattering, and generally
fooling around like kids, they wouldn`t have needed casual workers at all.

One even told me to "slow down - you`re showing us up!!!" Naturally that
only resulted in me going at it even harder!

BT, with whom I "Temped" for about 17 years were mainly from the same mould.
Nice people, but they really had no idea what a full day`s work meant!

Oh how right you are! I did two stints of casual at the GPO, one in
the fifties (delivering) and one in the seventies (night sorting). We
were so busy that we were able to invent a whole new sport called
"Yerdling". This involved the metal postbag frames for targets and the
small weighted sacks as the pitching ball. Us temps were so smart we
anihilated the regular Posties every night. And we got paid for it.
