Please could anyone tell me what papers local to Chelmsford were
around in 1911?

Thanks.

Pat P

The only one that comes to mind is the Essex Chronicle.

Nah, started around 1920 I think. Think the Essex weekly news was
much earlier.

From Wikipedia:

Founded as the "Chelmsford Chronicle" in 1764, the weekly "Essex
Chronicle" newspaper is said to be the longest in continuous
publication in the country. Until the closure of the printing plant
in 2002, the paper was also printed in the town. It is now printed on
other presses owned by the Northcliffe Group which now owns the paper

So it probably wasn't "The Essex Chronicle" in 1911.

It was the Chelmsford Chronicle (Or Essex Weekly Advertiser) from 1764 to
1884. It was then renamed the Essex County Chronicle. It remained the Essex
County Chronicle until 1920 when it dropped the County tag. It has remained
the Essex Chronicle to the present day.

At one point (about 1810 ish) it covered Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent,
Norfolk, Middlesex and Cambridgeshire.
Very local!
