Actually, on the radio (Desert island Discs I think), I once heard
James Galway tell a story about himself. He apparently gave the first
public performance (presumably played impeccably) of a brand new
ultra-modern piece of solo flute music (Schoenberg-ish apparently).
When he finished the piece, he says he stood up, bowed to the
audience, shook his head sadly and said, "Make of that what you will."

heheh. Lovely.

I just hope you can fit them in with the more normal instruments that the
rest of us play, so that we can actually jam together.

If I come I'll bring a comb and a roll of toilet paper.

You can't sing if you've got one of those stuck to your gob, and singing is your forte, Missus.

Not really. I haven't sung for ages and ages. My voice is seriously rusty.

Well, now is the time to get back into practice. Singing is something you can go on doing however many broken bones you've got. It doesn't matter if the snow is piled up to your roof - you can still sing. And it cheers you up, too! It's true one's voice does become a bit feeble if we don't keep doing it - it's rather like not going to the gym or something. But you can build it up again. No excuses!
