Global warming or not we cannot carry on burning the finite fossil
fuel resources as we are, they *will* run out. We must wean ourselves
off fossil fuels if we are going to stand any chance of surviving
other than back as hunter/gathers. We are currently energy rich, we
should be expending a significant amount of that energy in developing
alternatives to fossil fuels, be they renewables or nuclear. At the
moment the only real viable alternative is nuclear.

I have to agree with you. Fossil fuels will run out. We do have to find
alternatives and, unfortunately , nuclear is about the only credible source
open to us. Unless those clever chappies at CERN can come up
with a commercial version of thermonuclear fusion energy soon.
It is said to have the potential of being pollution free.

I have an idea that wouldn't cost more than a packet of razor blade. Let's shave our bodies, grow long hair all over and live like
people in the stone age. That's where we're heading anyhow. Better sooner than later.

Now where's me twig and me piece of string.
